October 2008 Membership Drive Contest Rules

Please note: These rules are for VPR-run drawings only. Rules for the national A Prairie Home Companion giveaway are below.

Eligibility
All contest entries made to Vermont Public Radio in response to the October 2008 membership drive, whether by mail, website or telephone, are included in the drawings. The drawings are open to legal residents of the 50 states of the U.S., the District of Columbia, and Canada. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. This contest is sponsored by Vermont Public Radio, 365 Troy Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446. All Sustaining Members are automatically included in all VPR-sponsored prize drawings.  Employees, board members and advisory committee members of VPR, its affiliates, advertising and production agencies related to this contest, and their respective household members are not eligible. VPR volunteers may enter if they are not included in the above-named categories. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law.
 
How to Enter
No purchase or contribution is necessary. You may enter this contest in one of three ways: online at vpr.net at this form, by telephone at 1-800-639-6391 or by mail by sending in a 3” x 5” index card to VPR, 365 Troy Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446. Entry must include your full name, complete mailing address, phone number with area code, and an e-mail address. No other method of entry will be accepted. Mail-in entries must be postmarked no later than two days prior to the prize drawing. Contest begins September 22, 2008 and ends:

• 7:00pm Wednesday, October 15, 2008 for the $1000 Gift Certificate at Northshire Books.
• A date TBA between October 16 and October 24, 2008 for the $3000 Gift Certificate at Small Dog Electronics.
• A date TBA between October 16 and October 24, 2008 for the four airline tickets to anywhere in the contintental U.S. with Milne Travel-American Express Vacations
• A date TBA between October 16 and October 24, 2008 for a $2000 shopping spree in Manchester, Vermont. (list of participating merchants TBA)
• A date TBA between October 16 and October 24, 2008 for a $2000 Gift Certificate at Gordon's Window Decor to be used for EcoSmart Insulating Cellular Shades (installation not included)
• Other prizes to be determined that will also be given away between October 16 and October 24, 2008

End dates of the contests may change, but drawings for each of the listed prizes will be held between October 15 and October 24, 2008. Limit one entry per household. Incomplete entries are void.

Selection of Winner(s)
Winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received by the deadline dates above. Prize drawing will be conducted by VPR. Drawing will be conducted within one hour of end of contest. Winner(s) will be announced on-air before the end of the day of the drawing. Winner(s) need not be present to win. Winner(s) will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail within 24 hours of drawing. Every reasonable attempt will be made to award prize. If after every reasonable effort has been exerted (three (3) attempts over 60 days) to award the prize but the potential winner(s) cannot be reached after 60 days from first notification attempt, or the potential winner(s) has refused to accept the prize, or if entrant is found to be ineligible, or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner awarded.

Odds of Winning
Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winners' names, hometowns and likenesses for publicity purposes without additional compensation. Winners will be notified by telephone and/or e-mail.

Limit of Entry
Limit one entry per person for the entire entry period. Multiple entries, if discovered, will be disqualified. By entering, entrants acknowledge compliance with these official rules including all eligibility requirements. VPR is not responsible for failures in technology such as but not limited to: technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any website or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. Proof of emailing and/or mailing does not constitute proof of delivery.

Prizes
At least three drawings will be held. All prizes are non-transferable. Prize value varies based on prize. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable. All taxes on the prizes, including but not limited to federal, state and local income and sales taxes, and any expense not covered herein (including but not limited to expenses related to the use of the prize) are the responsibility of the winners.

Other Important Points

• Prize drawing participants, by entering, release VPR, its employees and its agents from any liability with respect to the receipt or use of any awarded prize.
• VPR makes no and disclaims all warranties, guarantees or representations, express or implied, concerning the condition, quality, merchantability, of any prize.
• Vermont Public Radio reserves the right to cancel this contest and not award any prize in the event that in its judgment unforeseen developments warrant cancellation.
• For the names of the prize winners, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope before November 15, 2008 to VPR Drive Drawing Winners’ Names, 365 Troy Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446. Winners list will not be available until after October 27th, 2008.

A Prairie Home Companion Giveaway Contest Rules

How to Enter:
Enter by contacting Vermont Public Radio on October 18th or October 19th, 2008. It is not necessary to make a contribution to enter the giveaway. Your station will record your name and submit all entries to A Prairie Home Companion. No individual entries will be accepted. You must enter through Vermont Public Radio. Sustaining members of VPR are not automatically entered.

Eligibility:
Anyone may enter "A Prairie Home Companion's Trip Giveaway" except employees of A Prairie Home Companion, American Public Media, Minnesota Public Radio and their related organizations, their immediate family, or persons living in the same household. The drawing is open to any United States resident. Void where prohibited by law.

Four Grand Prizes:
Four grand prizes will be awarded. Each grand prize winner receives:
Two (2) tickets to a live broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion (date — January 31, February 7, 14, or 21, 2009 — to be mutually agreed upon by winner and A Prairie Home Companion's staff); two (2) roundtrip, coach-class airline tickets, one double hotel room for two (2) nights (room and tax only; winners will pay all incidental expenses), local ground transportation for two (2), to and from the broadcast; access to pre-show rehearsal; supper for two (2) with A Prairie Home Companion's cast before the broadcast. Retail value of entire package is up to $1,800. Dates and airfare to be mutually agreed upon by winner and A Prairie Home Companion's staff.

Selection and Notification of Winners:
Four winners will be selected by random drawing during A Prairie Home Companion's live broadcast on Saturday, December 13th, 2008. Four backup names will be drawn by random drawing after the conclusion of A Prairie Home Companion's live broadcast. Winners will be notified by telephone or certified mail. The winners' public radio station will be notified by telephone. If the winner is unable to collect the prize or if A Prairie Home Companion is unable to contact a winner within 30 days, the unawarded prize will go to the first backup and subsequent backups thereafter until the prizes are awarded. Winners must provide their Social Security number and sign a release and receipt for prize awarded. These official rules are on file at A Prairie Home Companion/Minnesota Public Radio.

General Rules:
By participating in "A Prairie Home Companion's Trip Giveaway," participants agree to these official rules, and that A Prairie Home Companion/APM and related organizations, their agents and employees will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from their use of prizes or their participation in the giveaway. Taxes and travel expenses exclusive of airfare, hotel accommodations, cast supper and show tickets are the responsibility of the winner.
