Sunday Bach

7 a.m.-8 a.m. Sunday on VPR Classical

The musical genius of Johann Sebastian Bach is the inspiration for Sunday Bach. The program presents a cross-section of Bach's music, delving deep into the well of his prodigious and imaginative output. Bach was best known during his life as an organist and choirmaster, and it wasn't until nearly a half-century or more after his death in 1750 that the world began to comprehend the importance of the music that came from the mind of this simple, deeply spiritual German composer and performer.

Host Mark Vogelzang offers just enough spoken commentary to provide you with historical context and performance information.
