About Sunday Bach
The musical genius of Johann Sebastian Bach served as the inspiration for Sunday Bach during its long run on VPR (April, 2001-April, 2009). VPR President Mark Vogalzang hosted the program, sharing favorites and delving deep into the well of Bach's prodigious and imaginative output. One of the show's highlights was the airing of Bach's entire cantata cycle, in sequence - twice through!
Mark left VPR in January 2009 to take a position at National Public Radio, and Sunday Bach ended production shortly afterward. The program concluded in a grand, two-part 8th anniversary celebration which aired on April 5th and April 12th, 2009.
