Nurses and doctors from Dartmouth traveled to Haiti last year after the deadly earthquake. The team has returned to Haiti this month and a photographer and reporter from the Valley News have gone along to chronicle their work. Reporter Gregory Trotter describes what they've found.
Americana museums exist in many forms and many sizes across the country, from local historical societies to the Shelburne Museum in Vermont to the Smithsonian in Washington. Many of these museums have been having more trouble attracting visitors in recent years, and are trying a variety of innovative things in an effort to change that.
As recovery operations continue after the devastating earthquake in Haiti, a local news team from the Upper Valley is following events on the ground.
The Claremont, New Hampshire, area lost its daily newspaper earlier this month when the Eagle Times abruptly closed. That loss has created a local ‘news vacuum' in the region. And a former competitor up the river from Claremont hopes to fill it.
