Vermont Public Radio: stimulus money
The Shumlin Administration says the federal government gave the state high marks for how it used stimulus funds on energy projects. Vermont got about $31 million to reduce energy consumption and develop renewable resources.
Governor Jim Douglas wants the second half of Vermont's federal economic stimulus money to go to job training, new loans, and broadband expansion.
Vermont has received about $100 million in federal stimulus money so far. Much of it has been used to pay for Medicaid benefits. Tom Evslin heads the Vermont Office of Economic Stimulus and Recovery.
The state of Vermont has completed its application for $94 million federal stimulus money.
