This week, the Sheriff's Department in Grand Isle is continuing a camping tradition that instills good values in local kids. The camp holds special meaning this year because of the recent death of its founder Sheriff Connie Allen.
Earlier this summer, the state Health Department warned swimmers to stay out of parts of Lake Champlain because of algae blooms. The blooms have since been broken up, but persistent water pollution may be affecting property values.
