Author Richard Smith says that the historic capture of Fort Ticonderoga in 1775 was not only an important moral victory for America, it was an important victory for Vermont in the Revolutionary War.

A window into the origins of the Lake Champlain region and the birth of America re-opens its doors to the public Thursday a new executive director at the helm.

This weekend, Fort Ticonderoga will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the re-opening of the restored fort. Re-construction of the 18th century fort began in 1909 as the region marked the 300th anniversary of the explorations the French explorer Samuel de Champlain.
