A legislative committee doesn't like the idea of allowing all-terrain vehicles to use state land.
A legislative committee had tough questions for the state's top environmental official over a proposal that would allow all-terrain vehicles to cross state land.
The Agency of Natural Resources now says it wants to create a pilot program for up to three trails on state property. Environmentalists say the proposal still goes too far, and could lead to a surge in illegal riding.
