The VPR Classical Day Sponsorship is a wonderful way to support Vermont Public Radio and to hear your own personal message on the air. Celebrate a birthday, surprise a friend, honor an anniversary or remember a loved one.

A gift of $500 entitles you to sponsor one day. Your message will be read on the air five times during the day of your choice, between 8:00am and 7:00pm, Monday through Friday.

As soon as we receive your contribution, we’ll send you a form to reserve your date and compose your message. Day sponsorships are aired Monday through Friday only. You may use your Day Sponsor benefit up to one year after the date of your contribution. Please indicate a second choice date in the case that your first choice date is not available. We schedule two Day Sponsors per day and each message is 12 words or less, proceeded by a standard introduction of "Today's VPR Classical Day Sponsor is..."

Day Sponsorship Wording Guidelines

To help you craft the best possible message that will be appropriate to air, please consider the following:

• A Day Sponsorship on-air message should celebrate friends or family, or commemorate a personal event, anniversary, or birthday.
• Messages must be 12 words or less.
• Copy must adhere to FCC guidelines for noncommercial radio.
  Political, religious, advocacy or controversial messages cannot be accepted. VPR reserves the right to edit messages.

Day Sponsorship FAQ's

What is the giving level required for a day sponsor? A minimum contribution of $500 is required for a day sponsorship. A contribution of this amount makes you a member of the VPR Broadcasters Club. Contributions of $1000 or more make you a member of the VPR Producers Circle, with additional benefits.

How many announcements do I get, and when will they be aired?
Your five announcements will air on VPR Classical between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm on the date selected.

Can my announcement be anonymous? No anonymous Day Sponsorships are accepted. In fact, we prefer to use first names and last names (i.e. Bob and Jane Smith rather than Mr. and Mrs. Smith).

If I contribute more than $500, can I get more dates? In general, members receive one date per year for a contribution of $500 or more.

Are there any limits on what my message can be about? The purpose of the sponsorships is to acknowledge special events or people. Generally we announce celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries or commemorate the memory of someone. VPR cannot air messages that promote a business or ideological, theological or political opinion. VPR may edit announcements for content and clarity.

How long can my message be? We ask that you keep your message to 12 words or less and we will edit if necessary.

How far in advance do I need to confirm my day sponsorship? Please submit your Day Sponsorship date and wording at least one week in advance so that we may approve the message wording. Day sponsorships are offered as space allows and on a first-come first-served basis.

How can I be sure my name will be pronounced correctly? Please help us with any unusual pronunciations by providing us with a rhyming word (i.e. "Nina" rhymes with "China").
