Some of Country Music's most famous recording stars of the 1950's and 1960's tried their hand at teenage Rock&Roll during the Rock&Roll explosion of the mid-1950's. Country music recording artist Eddy Arnold passed away on May 8, 2008 at age 89. During an entertainment career that extended over 70 years, Eddy Arnold placed an amazing 150 hit singles on the country music popularity charts and sold a staggering 85 million records. This week Joel Najman's "My Place" program presents "A Remembrance Of Eddy Arnold", celebrating his life and music. An interesting occurrence during the early days of the Rock & Roll Era was the proliferation of instrumental recordings that became big hits on the U.S. Pop charts - A phenomenon that's been far less frequent in the years since.
