A homeless shelter in Burlington is raising money to help rebuild what it calls its day station.

The station was temporarily moved to the parsonage of a Burlington church after its original location was damaged by a summer flood.

Burlington's Committee on Temporary Shelter raised more than $70,000 throughout the summer and fall to replace the computers, appliances and furniture destroyed in the July 4 flood.

The Burlington Free Press reports during the time between the storm and the move to the parsonage of the Methodist Church, COTS provided reduced day station services in the flooded building's second story and at the overnight shelter on lower Church Street.

COTS spokeswoman Becky Holt says they're now working on raising money to rebuild the day station.

She says they also need volunteers.
