Snow In Mountains Means Skiing At Killington

There was snow in the mountains Monday. And in Killington, that means there's also skiing and snowboarding.
Killington Resort spokeswoman Sarah Thorson says about a mile of expert terrain, or about eight acres, is open with gondola access.
The gondola began spinning around 9:15 Monday and Thorson says she and about 40 to 50 people lined up early.
"Yeah, it was a very exciting morning. There was a light snow and there were smiles everywhere and it was incredible to be around this morning," Thorson said.
Killington opened briefly last month but had to close again when temperatures warmed up.
Thorson says cold dry weather the past few days allowed the resort to crank up its snowmaking for today's opening.
"Outstanding conditions - even though it's ungroomed and expert only. The skiings so good. It always feels good to make turns in early November."
According to the Vermont Ski Areas Association no other ski resorts in the state are open.
But most are making snow and planning to open some time this month.
