Governor Peter Shumlin says Vermont is offering support and assistance to other states
hit harder by Hurricane Sandy. U.S. Forest Service officials are urging extra
caution for those who may want to venture out in the woods in the days
following the storm. Interest in early voting is
high in several parts of the state. In some communities, it's
expected that as many as a third of all voters will cast their ballot before
Election Day. Residents of St. Johnsbury are due to vote next week on
whether to approve a major public works project. A Springfield man has been accused of throwing a bottle at a state
trooper and injuring him in a scuffle at a gas station.
