Free Book On Old Lake Champlain Bridge
A limited number of copies of a free book on the history of the original Lake Champlain Bridge are being made available to the public.
The 65-page booklet, titled "Spanning the Decades: The Lake Champlain Bridge Story," is illustrated with photos, paintings and memorabilia that tell the story of the span.
The bridge was built in 1929 to connect Addison, Vermont and Crown Point, New York.
It was closed in October 2009 after being deemed unsafe, and demolished two months later. A new Lake Champlain Bridge opened last November.
The publication is available at historic sites and visitors centers on either side of the bridge. The booklet is also available online at www.dot.ny.gov.
