Long-time psychologist David Sokol has written and produced a blues CD, "Shylock Sings the Blues." that explores the themes of bigotry and anti-Semitism in William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice."

Shylock is the most famous character in the play, a money lender of Jewish faith who demands a pound of flesh as bond for a loan. In the end it is Shylock who pays, forfeiting much of his fortune.

VPR's Steve Zind talked with David Sokol about his interpretation of the play, embodied in "Shylock Sings The Blues."
