Repairing bridges damaged by Tropical Storm Irene has posed challenges for many cities and towns.

In Halifax, town officials continue to evaluate the status of a number of bridges undermined by Irene's floodwaters.

At a select board meeting last week, they passed a motion to continue with a so-called "pre-cast concrete slab" design for the Deer Park Bridge, which has an estimated lifespan of 50 years.

Also, the Reed Hill Bridge's design was approved and is expected to be ready to go to bid in the next couple of weeks.

The Select Board also said that the repairs on the Weir Road Bridge will depend on whether or not the state recognizes it as a public road.
