The Vermont Senate has passed a bill aimed at opening state environmental enforcement actions to more public involvement.
The Senate's action on a voice vote Thursday came on a bill already passed by the House that allows people aggrieved by environmental violations to get an opportunity to comment when the state takes enforcement actions.
The Senate made some changes in the bill, so now it goes back to the House to see if that chamber concurs.
Deputy Natural Resources Secretary Chris Recchia says the Shumlin administration supports the measure.
