Vermont State Police say inmates at the Department of Corrections inappropriately modified some of their cruiser door decals.
Vermont State Police say it's no laughing matter that images of a pig showed up on decals on the side of about 30 of their cruisers, and they say inmates at the Department of Corrections are responsible.

Cruisers have a copy of the state seal on both sides of the car. The seal includes a red cow in the lower right. The altered version includes an image of a pig superimposed in the cows' shoulder.

State police say while some may find the decal modifications funny, the joke comes at the expense of the taxpayers.

The state commissions a print shop at the Department of Corrections to design and produce decals.

The process of removing and replacing the 16-inch door decals is expected to begin as soon as possible.
