(Host) One of the state transportation officials who was key to leading Tropical Storm Irene recovery efforts has been appointed director of Vermont Emergency Management.
Joe Flynn had been rail director at the Transportation Agency. During Irene recovery, he was put in charge of one of the VTrans special regional response centers.
And since the completion of the road work, he's been operations director in the Irene Recovery Office.
Flynn takes over at the Emergency Management division from Mike Flynn, who shifted to director of the fire safety division.
Besides his work with state government, Flynn has also served in local government as a select board member, fire chief and deputy sheriff.VPR News
