Here's a sign of progress on recovering from Tropical Storm Irene: Vermont officials have retired the special Google map that reported which roads and bridges around the state were closed due to damage from the storm.
More than 500 miles of state road and 200 bridges were damaged by flooding. The state Agency of Transportation says it was a big help when Google offered to create a special map that could be updated regularly to tell people where the closures were.
Now officials say Vermont is down to two bridges and nine miles of state road still out. They say they can report that information through the state's long-standing 511 travel information website, which also documents all other closures on the state highway system.
