A highway funding bill that's been approved in Congress includes money to help Vermont and other states recover from Tropical Storm Irene.
The emergency funding was approved Thursday evening by a 298-121 House vote and 70-30 Senate vote.
Congressman Peter Welch says winning passage was "a very dicey battle" given the budget politics in Washington.
The legislation includes funding for a Federal Highway Administration emergency relief program that will help repair the state's damaged infrastructure, estimated at more than $250 million.
