Vermont State Route 131 is seen in this picture posted to Twitter. The route between Weathersfield and Cavendish reopened Friday.
(Host) One more of the transportation links that was broken during Tropical Storm Irene's floods has been restored.

The Vermont Transportation Agency says Route 131 between Weathersfield and Cavendish reopened Friday.

Locals described the worst of the damage east of Cavendish village as the "Cavendish Canyon" because the flooding carved a crater 54 feet deep and a football field long.

At the worst, more than 500 miles of road and 200 bridges were damaged or destroyed across the state by Irene.

VTrans says it has reopened all of them now except for two bridges in Roxbury, and Routes 106 in Weathersfield, 107 in Stockbridge and 73 between Rochester and Brandon.
