Most of the state's road network that was damaged by Irene has been repaired. However, no one knows how long some of those repairs will last.
That's the word from Deputy Transportation Secretary Sue Minter, who says motorists need to be cautious.
Some road projects that would normally have taken years of planning were fixed in days or weeks.
She says in some areas sinkholes and landslides are already being reported.
It's possible some repaired areas will have to be rebuilt.
The flooding that began on August 28th damaged up to 500 miles of state highways. Two hundred bridges were damaged or destroyed.
Three bridges and fewer than 20 miles of highway remain closed.
