RSSVt. Command Center For Irene Repairs Closing

More than 1,000 highway-recovery personnel were mobilized through the Vermont Agency of Transportation's Rutland Region Incident Command Center in Rutland. The workers helped rebuild bridges and highways in 52 towns in the southwest part of the state.
Gil Newbury, commander of the Rutland hub, said the closing signals that Vermont's initial recovery from the storm is nearly complete and that the state roadway network is well on its way to being ready for winter.
Operations at another command center in Berlin were transferred to the agency's maintenance districts in early October. The third hub, in Dummerston, is scheduled to stay open into November.
