Task Force Will Study Flood's Legal Issues
Tuesday, 10/18/11 12:04pm
Campbell says the big issue for many people is that the floods destroyed both their homes and in some cases the land that the homes stood on.
So he asked the head of the Vermont Bar Association to help figure out what issues need to be resolved by the state.
(Campbell) "What arose out of that conversation is my asking Bob to put together a task force of folks that have experience in property law to try to identify the problems that we know of and also ones that we probably still have not realized."
(Host) Bob Paolini is the executive director of the Bar Association. He says lawyers, bankers and others will meet over the next two months to ask some basic questions.
(Campbell) "What's really going on and what we can we all agree on in terms of fixes that we can do and where we fall short what we're going to need to ask the Legislature to do."
(Host) Paolini says the task force will probably hold its first meeting at the Statehouse early next month.
