In the immediate aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene, a signup sheet for volunteers hung outside a home in Moretown. Since then, towns have seen a drop off in the number of hands to help.

One month after Tropical Storm Irene, towns are starting to see a decrease in volunteer assistance.

Sarah Waterman is the co-founder of #VTResponse.com, a Web site which sprung up after the storm as a way to connect Vermonters who wanted to help with those who needed it.

Waterman says it's getting more difficult for towns to get assistance with their recovery efforts.

(Waterman) "The volunteerism has leveled off a bit. We have some larger groups that needed some time to get coordinated, but in terms of the, you know, a thousand e-mails on the first day of 'I want to help,' that's really trailed off."

Waterman says road closures continue to be a hurdle for volunteers who wish to help some of the state's more devastated communities.

You'll find information on how you can help in recovery efforts here.
