Deputy Agriculture Secretary Says Vt. Farmers Are Resilient
Tuesday, 09/27/11 7:50am
Many farms in Vermont suffered extensive damage after flooding from Tropical Storm Irene.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 11 counties as primary natural disaster areas, meaning they'll be eligible for low-interest loans to help them get back on track, but farmers in all 14 counties are eligible for disaster aid.
Deputy Agriculture Secretary Kathleen Merrigan is in Vermont this week to see the damage from the flooding first-hand, and she spoke with VPR's Mitch Wertlieb.
