Disaster Declaration Approved For VT Farms
Tuesday, 09/27/11 6:06am
Vermont farms will be eligible for federal disaster aid.
Gov. Peter Shumlin announced the federal disaster declaration yesterday. He says he hopes farmers who lost crops and equipment in the spring and summer storms will move quickly to seek emergency loan assistance from the Farm Service Agency.
The governor says farmers in all 14 counties have eight months to apply for the federal loans, available immediately and with an interest rate of below four percent.
His offices say help will also be available for certain farmers who qualify for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program in 2012 to farmers who meet certain loss qualifications.
