Regional Report: Washington Politics Hold Up Recovery Money

(Host) Emergency funding to help pay for flood recovery in Vermont has been jeopardized by the latest political crisis in Washington.

One bill that would have funded the Federal Emergency Management Agency was unexpectedly defeated in the House earlier this week.

That bill would have provided only about half as much money as the Senate wanted.

There was more maneuvering on this issue Thursday at the Capitol.

VPR's Mitch Wertlieb spoke with Matt Laslo, a freelance reporter who reports on Congress for us, about news that'affecting every region of the state.
