The Salvation Army says it needs volunteers to help at its flood recovery center in Rutland.
The center at South Main Street is offering food, clothing, furniture and spiritual support to the victims of Tropical Storm Irene that ravaged Vermont.
The center says although donations have been coming in steadily it needs non-perishable food items, especially canned meats and beef stew, peanut butter and jelly in plastic containers, pasta and Italian sauce, bottled water and hygiene items. The Salvation Army is no longer accepting beds, mattresses, large kitchen appliances, washers and dryers.
