Relentless Rain Washes Out Route 9, Again
Wednesday, 09/07/11 5:04pm
(Host) Route 9, the main east-west route from Bennington to Brattleboro, has washed out again.
State police say heavy rains over the past 24 hours have made the road impassable in the town of Marlboro.
And a back road detour used by residents to get around the wash-out in Brattleboro and Marlboro is no longer accessible because of severe mud.
Police say Route 9 should be used for local traffic only. They say commercial traffic needing to go east to west should take Massachusetts Route 2 or the Massachusetts Turnpike.
State police say heavy traffic on the road has hampered the ability of work crews to fix the vital corridor.VPR Discussion & Comment Policy
