CVPS Says Power Back On, But Safety Concerns Remain

Vermont's largest electric company says all of its customers who could have their power restored safely after last week's flooding have the lights back on.

But officials at Central Vermont Public Service say they've got a lot of work yet to do, and are urging drovers and others to be careful around utility repair operations.

Company vice president Joe Kraus says crews will remain out in force for several weeks making the temporary repairs they made last week more permanent.

He also says homes that were flooded need to be inspected by a state inspector or licensed electrician before power can be turned back on and any electrical appliances that went under water need to be thrown out.
