(Host) The National Guard is continuing to reach towns and villages cut off by the weekend's devastating flooding.
This morning, a guard Humvee traveled over washed out roads to Wardsboro, a small village where residents lack food, water and electricity.
VPR's John Dillon reports:
(Dillon) A cheer went up in West Wardsboro when a National Guard Humvee towing a trailer of water arrived in the village. The Guard is trying to reach 11 towns that are still cut off when flood waters wiped out roads and bridges.
Wardsboro, in southern Vermont, has been isolated since Sunday afternoon, without basic necessities such as food, water and electricity.
George Ellis lives above the West Wardsboro store and welcomed the Guard delivery.
(Ellis) It's hard to believe water what caused all this and that's the one thing we need.
(Dillon) More supplies are expected to arrive by helicopter later today.
For VPR News, I'm John Dillon in southern Vermont.
