Two Groups Seek To Intervene In Vermont Yankee Suit
Friday, 05/13/11 5:50pm
Entergy filed suit last month, saying Vermont doesn't have the authority to shut down the plant in March 2012. The plant just got a 20-year license renewal from federal regulators.
Today, the Conservation Law Foundation and Vermont Public Interest Research Group jointly filed a motion in U.S. District Court to intervene as defendants in the law suit.
The New England Coalition filed a similar petition last month.
Vermont passed a law in 2006 giving the Legislature the power to say no to a re-licensing, but Entergy contends that power lies solely with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
