VT Yankee Evacuation Towns To See Drill
Tuesday, 04/05/11 6:06am
Local, state and federal emergency responders will be converging on the area around the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant for a drill this week.
They want to determine how well prepared the region is in case of an emergency at the plant.
The drill is being held Tuesday and Wednesday in Vernon, Guilford, Brattleboro, Halifax, Dummerston, and Marlboro.
Sampling teams who would check for radioactive contamination in an actual emergency will be in the field on Wednesday.
If there were an actual emergency at the plant, the public would be notified with sirens, "emergency alert system" messages, and other forms of communication.
