Maine Debates Wind Power

There are 133 wind turbines in Maine, producing 266 megawatts of power. The existing turbines are spread over the least populated areas of the state.

Naomi Schalit, executive director of the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, looks at the clash in that state between the impact of wind projects and the desire to develop locally produced renewable energy, She says the state's Wind Energy Act of 2008 made it easier to develop wind projects in Maine.
