UVM Extension Master Gardener Program Coordinator Nancy Hulett says that you need to know the frost-free date in your area. This varies by what climate zone in which you live. You can then back time from that date to determine when to start your seeds.

Hulett,  Mike Lizotte of American Meadows and Tom Stearns of High Mowing Seeds offer advice on how to raise vegetables, herbs and flowers from seeds.
