Burlington Voters Pass Two Charter Changes

03/02/11 6:06AM

Voters in Burlington passed two City Charter amendments and defeated a third in Town Meeting yesterday.

Voters rejected a measure that would have raised the percentage of the vote needed for a mayoral candidate to win, from 40 to 50 percent.

They passed one that removes the city's chief administrative officer from his status as a voting member of the Board of Finance, replacing him with a fourth City Council member.

The third, to define a voting majority on the City Council as a majority of those present and voting, not as those present, was approved.
