Dozens Of Vermont Towns Celebrate 250 Years

In 1761, New Hampshire governor Benning Wentworth granted charters to dozens of townships in the disputed territory that would ultimately become Vermont. That means 63 towns -- including Middlebury, Rutland, Norwich, Woodstock and many more -- are celebrating their semiquincentennial this year.
Mark Hudson, executive director of the Vermont Historical Society, discusses the history surrounding these land grants and what different towns are doing to celebrate their 250th.
