Ellen Kahler, executive director of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, holds a news conference on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 in Montpelier, to announce a 10-year plan to boost the state's food and farm economy and improve access to healthy local food.
A report released this week sets concrete goals for the future of the state's agricultural industry, like doubling the amount of local food purchased in Vermont and adding 1500 jobs in the food sector by 2020. We talk to Ellen Kahler, Executive Director of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, and Will Stevens, who is both a state representative and a farmer about the Farm to Plate Strategic Plan, and the connection between agriculture and economic development.
