Vermont Regulators To Hear About Nuclear Leaks
Tuesday, 01/11/11 6:06am
The Vermont Public Service Board will hear requests by two environmental groups for the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant to be shut down until leaks of radioactive materials are fully resolved.
Conservation Law Foundation and the New England Coalition made the request nearly a year ago after revelations that radioactive tritium turned up in test wells at Vermont Yankee, and that plant personnel had misled state officials by saying the plant did not have the type of underground pipes that carried tritium.
Hearings are to be held today through Friday.
