The Write Action Board. (Top Row, Left to Right: Edmund Brelsford, Mary Mathias, Tom Ragle, Toni Ortner. Bottom Row, Left to Right: Charlene Wakefield, Arlene Distler)

The group Write Action began in 1999 in Brattleboro to raise funds for a local writer whose computer had been stolen. Since that time, the group evolved into a support network for writers and sponsor of the literary arts in southern Vermont.

Write Action has just released an anthology of poems and stories written by authors in the Brattleboro area. It’s called The Best of Write Action number 2: The Tenth Anniversary Anthology. Edited by Arlene Distler and Toni Ortner, the anthology is "a record of shared life" in the Brattleboro area, gathering dozens of accomplished and relatively new writers into one collection.

VPR's Peter Biello spoke with Arlene Distler about the anthology.

Some of the authors in this anthology will be reading their work at Misty Valley Books in Chester Sunday, January 9th at 4 o'clock.
