This year Vermont's apple crop is ripening about 7 to 10 days early. Orchards that normally wait until mid-September to open for customers are already busily picking early varieties.
Bill Suhr owns Champlain Orchards in Shoreham. Terry Bradshaw is president of the Vermont Tree Fruit Growers Association and Assistant Director of UVM's Horticulture Research Center.
They talk with VPR's Jane Lindholm about this year's crop and the challenges our regional growers are facing.
