Brothers Vernon, Audie and Creed Proctor have lived on the same farm in a small upstate New York town for their whole lives. They never marry and even in their old age share a bed. Even to their fellow farmers they seem odd.
Then one night Vernon dies in his sleep with his brothers at his side, and one brother, Creed, is accused of murdering him. The brothers, their lives and the search for an explanation for Vernon’s death is the subject of Plymouth, Vermont resident Jon Clinch’s new novel, Kings of the Earth.
He speaks with VPR's Peter Biello about his novel.
