In 1975, Dave and Rene Wilson opened The Long Trail School in Dorset. They had 14 students that first year and classes were held in the Dorset Sportsman's Club. The school now has 174 students in Grades 6 through 12 and has its own 16-acre campus.
Next Monday, when the students return, the 11th will have the option to be part of something new at the school. In May of this year, The Long Trail School became the first school in Vermont to receive accreditation for the International Baccalaureate program.
