Vermont Yankee Officials Plan Update On Remediation
Tuesday, 06/22/10 6:06am
Vermont Yankee officials are planning to give the latest news on contamination problems at the nuclear power plant.
Plant owner Entergy Vermont has scheduled a briefing today about the status of plant operations and water and soil remediation work at the Vernon site.
And the U-S Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting on the plant's annual assessment of safety performance tonight at 6 at Brattleboro Union High School.
Last month, plant officials announced that strontium-90 had been found in soil at the plant. And tritium, another radioactive substance, has contaminated groundwater at Vermont Yankee and is still being cleaned up.
