Now that the pomp and circumstance of graduation is over at a lot of colleges around Vermont, it's time for reunion season, when graduates get together to find out what's been going on with their former classmates.

And the University of Vermont's class of 1990 will have a pretty famous face in its midst when alums gather this weekend. Melissa d'Arabian got her own show on the Food Network by winning one of its challenges called "The Next Food Network Star."

It was a big career change for a woman who majored in Political Science at UVM, earned an MBA, and used to work in corporate finance and consulting. But Melissa D'Arabian tell VPR's Mitch Wertlieb that financial background was a big help in winning the Food Network Challenge, because it all started from her talks she gave to neighborhood women from her own home, on how to save money in the kitchen.
