Jane Lindholm

Everything is beginning to bloom.  The mountains are turning hyper-color green, lawnmowers are already being tuned up, and flowers are bursting out from under last year's dead leaves.

But for gardeners, the excitement is all about what isn't necessarily in the ground yet, and the color of the moment is brown.  Freshly turned soil in raised beds, flat beds, and flower pots.  Compost moldering though the winter looks wonderful and smells even better, if you're a gardener.  It's the smell of life to come. You never know quite what you're going to get at the beginning of the season, but that's part of the excitement too.

VPR's Jane Lindholm talks with horticulturist Charlie Nardozzi about how to get the most out of your vegetables, flowers, and lawns this season.
