Monday, 04/19/10 6:06am
Recent groundwater contamination at the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant will be on the agenda when federal officials hold an open house and public meeting Monday in Brattleboro.
During the open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Brattleboro Union High School, Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials plan to meet informally with members of the public interested in the recent leaks of tritium and other radioactive substances at Vermont Yankee.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. the NRC will hold a more formal public meeting in the auditorium at the high school. Following a brief opening statement to provide the status of NRC inspection into the groundwater contamination issue, NRC staff will respond to questions from the public and public officials.
