VPR's Steve Zind reports on the Combat Paper Project, an arts program that helps soldiers turn their old uniforms into handmade paper for journals.

Drew Cameron and Jon Turner cut uniforms.
Cutting up the uniforms.
The cloth is beaten and mixed with water to make a slurry.
The slurry is poured into a vat.
A screen mounted on a frame is dipped in the vat
The screen collects a layer of the slurry
The layer is removed from the screen
Once the layer is removed it is pressed to remove most of the water.
The freshly made paper is stacked to dry.
Some soldiers silk screen images onto the paper they make
