Hodes Says Vermont Yankee Taking Necessary Steps
Tuesday, 02/09/10 6:06am
New Hampshire Rep. Paul Hodes says he believes all the necessary steps are being taken to find the source of tritium leaking into groundwater at the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.
Hodes, a Democrat who is running for the U.S. Senate, made the comment after crossing the Connecticut River to tour Vermont Yankee on Monday.
Hodes says he is proposing legislation that would require beefed up communication between plants like Vermont Yankee and any state into which its emergency evacuation zone extends.
Vermont Yankee's zone extends into both New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
